IBPS SO Eligibility Criteria 2026

The IBPS SO Eligibility Criteria 2026 outlines the essential conditions that candidates must meet to apply for Specialist Officer posts in public sector banks. IBPS SO Nationality Criteria 2026

Candidates must fulfill one of the following nationality conditions to apply for IBPS SO 2026:

• Candidate should hold the citizenship of India.
• Candidate subjected to Bhutan
• Candidate subjected to Nepal
• A person from Tibet, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, East Africa, Burma, Kenya, Uganda came to India for permanent residence before 1 January 1962 along with a certificate given by the Government of India for eligibility.

IBPS SO Age Limit Criteria

The IBPS SO 2025 age limit is defined as per the official notification. As on 1st July 2025, candidates must be between 20 and 30 years of age to apply for the Specialist Officer posts. This means applicants must have been born not earlier than 2nd July 1995 and not later than 1st July 2005, both dates inclusive.

IBPS SO Age Relaxation for Upper Age Limit

The IBPS SO 2026 recruitment offers age relaxation to candidates from reserved and special categories in accordance with government rules. IBPS SO 2026 Exam will be conducted in the following three phases: Preliminary Exam, Mains Exam and Interview Process. It is mandatory for every applicant to clear all levels of examination to get selected to the post of Specialist Officer in multiple Public Sector Banks participating in IBPS SO 2026.

IBPS SO  Exam Pattern: Important Points

• The exam will be conducted in three phases: Preliminary, Mains and Interview Process.
• IBPS has introduced separate sectional timing for each section in the prelims exam. The IBPS SO preliminary examination has a total duration of 120 minutes and 40 minutes for each section.
• A candidate must appear for the Prelims first and the selected students after the Preliminary Exam will be eligible to give the Mains Exam.
• Score of Preliminary Exam will not be taken into consideration for final allotment. The final selection will be based on the Mains Exam and Interview Process.
• The Mains Examination will contain questions only from the Professional Knowledge Subjects.
• A negative marking of 0.25 marks is done in the case of the wrong answer. No marks will be deducted for questions left un-attempted.

• The IBPS SO 2026 exam pattern for selecting candidates for Rajbhasha Adhikari Scale I and Law Officer is the same.
• The Exam Pattern for all the other posts is different from the exam pattern of the Law Officer and Rajbhasha Adhikari Officer.
• The Mains Examination will have just one section, i.e. of Professional Knowledge
• Only three sections will be asked in the Preliminary Exam of the IBPS SO 2026 Exam.
• For Rajbhasha Adhikari and Law Officer prelims, sections asked are English Language, Reasoning, and General Awareness.
• For other posts, sections asked are of English Language, Reasoning, and Quantitative Aptitude.
