SBI SO Exam Preparation

State Bank of India conducts a recruitment drive for the post of Specialist Officer. Each year, the SBI SO exam is taken to shortlist candidates for different posts. Candidates interested in applying must match the SBI SO Exam eligibility criteria. The minimum and maximum age limits to apply to any of the SBI SO posts vary from 21 years to 45 years; however, reserved category candidates get some relaxation. Also, only Indian citizens can give the exam.

SBI SO Nationality & Domicile

The candidates giving the SBI SO exam must be Indian citizens. OCI and NRIs are not eligible to give the exam. Under SBI SO eligibility criteria, state domicile does not exist as this is a national-level exam.

SBI SO Age Relaxation

Reserved category candidates (SC/ ST/ OBC/ PWD) have an advantage of age relaxation. Details related to age relaxation are mentioned in the tabular form.

SBI SO Educational Qualification (As on 31.07.2024)

Candidates must be graduates to give the SBI SO exam. Preference will be given to the ones having the required qualification and work experience. SBI SO qualification in terms of education for each post is different. The following table highlights the minimum educational eligibility for SBI Specialist Officer.

Manager (Data Scientist)

• B.E. / B.Tech / M.Tech in Computer Science / IT /Electronics / Electrical & Electronics / Electronics & Communication / Data Science / AI & ML/ Equivalent degree in above disciplines / M Sc Data Sc /Msc (Statistics)/ MA (Statistics)/M Stat /MCA from AICTE/UGC recognized University/ Institution.
• Minimum 60% marks or equivalent grade in both Graduation / Post Graduation.

Dy. Manager (Data Scientist)

• B.E. / B.Tech / M.Tech in Computer Science / IT /Electronics / Electrical & Electronics / Electronics & Communication / Data Science / AI & ML/ Equivalent degree in above disciplines / M Sc Data Sc /Msc( Statistics)/ MA (Statistics)/M Stat /MCA from AICTE/UGC recognized University/ Institution.
• Minimum 60% marks or equivalent grade in both Graduation / Post Graduation

SBI SO Number of Attempt

• As per guidelines shared by the SBI, candidates belonging to the general category can appear a maximum of 4 times in the SBI SO exam.
• The total number of attempts allowed to OBC candidates is 7.
• There is no restriction for the candidates belonging to SC/ST category

SBI SO Work Experience

Candidates applying for the post of Specialist Officer posts must be qualified in all aspects. The experience requirement differs as per the SBI SO posts candidates are applying for. The experience plays an important role at the time of the interview. The SBI SO 2025 result will bebased on the interview.

SBI SO 2025 Exam Pattern

There is a separate exam to recruit Specialist Officers as Assistant Managers, Engineers, Officers, Architects, Designers, Administrators, Tester, Manager, Analysts, Developers, and various other posts on a regular/ contractual basis. Candidates applying for a particular post must meet the minimum SBI SO eligibility criteria. The exam pattern for each of them is different.

SBI SO Exam Pattern

The written exam for SBI SO will be an objective-type, online test. Candidates must keep in mind the following about the SBI SO  exam pattern:

• The exam will have 270 marks.
• There will be 195 questions in the exam.
• The duration of the exam will be 160 minutes.

Interview

The selection process for all posts has an interview round. For the post of  System Officer (Test Engineer, Web Developer, and Performance/ Senior Automation Test Engineer), the weightage of the interview will be 30%, and 70% will be for the online written test.  The final merit list of the SBI SO will be prepared on the basis of the marks obtained by the candidate in all stages, including the interview.
