LIC AAO Exam Pattern 2025

The LIC AAO 2025 recruitment process is conducted in three major stages – Preliminary Exam (Prelims), Main Exam (Mains) and Interview. Final Selection – Based on the marks of Main Exam (Objective) + Interview. After that, candidates undergo pre-recruitment medical examination, and only medically fit candidates are appointed.

LIC AAO Preliminary Exam Pattern

The LIC AAO Prelims Exam is the first stage of the selection process, consisting of three sections: Reasoning Ability, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Language. It comprises 100 multiple-choice questions carrying 70 marks in total, with a duration of 1 hour. While the English Language section is qualifying in nature, performance in Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude is considered for shortlisting candidates for the mains exam.

LIC AAO Mains Exam Pattern 2025

The LIC AAO Mains Exam is the second stage of the recruitment process and includes both objective and descriptive tests. The objective test is divided into four sections: Reasoning Ability, General Knowledge & Current Affairs, Data Analysis & Interpretation (for Generalist) / Professional Knowledge (for Specialist), and Insurance & Financial Market Awareness. This part carries 300 marks with sectional timing for each test. The descriptive test, conducted immediately after the objective test, evaluates candidates’ English Language skills (Essay & Letter Writing) and carries 25 marks. While the descriptive test is qualifying in nature, marks obtained in the objective test are counted towards the final merit list.

Candidates who qualify for the mains exam will further be called for an interview and those who qualify for the interview will be called for a pre-recruitment medical test.

LIC AAO Interview

The LIC AAO Interview is the final stage of the selection process, conducted for candidates who qualify in the mains exam. The LIC AAO Mains Exam Syllabus is structured to test a candidate’s analytical thinking, subject expertise, general awareness, and communication skills. It is divided into objective tests (with sectional timing) and a descriptive English paper. The objective section varies slightly for Generalist and Specialist posts, while the descriptive test remains common.

1. Reasoning Ability – Includes puzzles, seating arrangement, coding-decoding, syllogism, inequality, blood relations, input-output, data sufficiency, and analytical reasoning.
2. General Knowledge & Current Affairs – Covers static GK, important national & international events, banking & financial awareness, economy, sports, awards, appointments, and government schemes.

LIC AAO Salary

The salary of an LIC Assistant Administrative Officer (AAO) is one of the major attractions of this post. The basic pay starts at ₹88,635 per month on a scale of ₹88,635-4,385(14)-1,50,025-4,750(4)-1,69,025, along with admissible allowances and benefits. On joining, the total gross monthly salary is around ₹1,07,222. (depending on the city of posting). Employees also receive additional perks such as House Rent Allowance (HRA), City Compensatory Allowance (CCA), Dearness Allowance (DA), medical benefits, insurance cover, and pension schemes, making the job highly rewarding and financially secure.

LIC AAO Salary Structure

A newly appointed AAO will now start with a basic salary of ₹88,635 per month, under the revised pay scale of ₹88,635–4,385 (14)–1,50,025–4,750 (4)–1,69,025. This means that for the first 14 years of service, an annual increment of ₹4,385 will be added to the basic pay. After completing this stage, the next 4 years will carry an increment of ₹4,750 annually. With these increments, the maximum basic pay can reach up to ₹1,69,025 per month.

In addition to the basic pay, LIC AAOs receive various allowances such as House Rent Allowance (HRA), City Compensatory Allowance (CCA), and Dearness Allowance (DA). When these are combined, the total monthly salary in an “A-Class” city is estimated to be around ₹1,26,000.
