LIC Assistant 2026 Selection Process
The LIC Assistant selection process consists of three stages, and only the Mains examination marks are considered for final merit ranking. The Preliminary Exam is qualifying in nature, while the Medical Test checks fitness before appointment.
There is no interview round in the recruitment process. Candidates must clear each stage separately to move forward in the selection process.

LIC Assistant 2026 Exam Pattern
The LIC Assistant exam is conducted in two phases — Prelims and Mains — through online Computer-Based Test mode with sectional timing in both stages. A negative marking of 0.25 marks applies for every incorrect answer in both examinations. The prelims examination carries 100 marks, while the Mains examination carries 200 marks.
LIC Assistant 2026 Prelims Exam Pattern
The Prelims exam serves as a screening stage with 100 questions for 100 marks and a total duration of 60 minutes. This phase contains sectional timing, and its marks are not included in the final merit list.
Each section has a separate 20-minute limit. Candidates must attempt the paper within the allotted sectional time only.

LIC Assistant 2026 Mains Exam Pattern
The Mains examination is the final ranking stage with 200 questions carrying 200 marks and a total duration of 150 minutes. This score alone determines the final selection merit list.
The exam contains five sections with separate sectional timing. Candidates must clear each section individually because section-wise cutoffs apply.

LIC Assistant 2026 Syllabus
The LIC Assistant syllabus covers topics from both the Prelims and Mains examinations, including Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, General and Financial Awareness, and Language subjects. Some subjects appear in both phases, while Computer Aptitude is tested only in the Mains exam.

- The main examination will consist of objective tests for 200 marks.
- The objective test will be conducted in online mode.
- There will be negative marks of ¼ marks for wrong answers in the Objective tests for the main examination
- The objective test will have separate timing for every section.
- Qualification of the Preliminary exam is essential to appear for Mains Exam. However, the marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination (Phase I) will not be added to the marks of Mains for selection.
- Thus, the final selection will be based on the marks obtained by a candidate in Main Examination (Phase II)
Medical Test
The applicants have to be medically fit for getting recruited as the LIC Assistant. They have to undergo a medical test. The eligible candidates who have cracked all the stages of the examination and are medically fit would be able to make their way through to the LIC Assistant job.
