SSC CPO Physical Test
The SSC CPO Physical Test sets minimum height standards and proportionate weight requirements for both male and female candidates to ensure physical fitness for police and CAPF duties. As candidates differ in body structure, SSC provides an official height–weight chart to determine whether the weight is proportionate to the candidate’s height. These standards vary by gender and category, and meeting them is essential to qualify the Physical Standard Test (PST) stage of the SSC CPO selection process.
SSC CPO Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
The SSC CPO Physical Endurance Test (PET) is conducted to evaluate a candidate’s physical fitness and stamina, which are essential for police and CAPF duties. The test includes running and endurance-based activities, and the requirements differ for male and female candidates in terms of distance and time limits. Qualifying the PET is mandatory, as it ensures candidates are physically capable of handling the demands of the job before moving ahead in the selection process.

SSC CPO Allowances
Along with basic pay, officers selected through SSC CPO receive various allowances that improve their overall earnings. These allowances depend on factors such as place of posting, department rules, and government pay guidelines under the 7th Pay Commission. Some important allowances are explained below based on widely accepted government pay structures and allowances applicable to central government personnel.
House Rent Allowance (HRA)
House Rent Allowance is given to help cover accommodation costs. It is calculated as a percentage of basic pay according to the city category where an officer is posted:
- X City: 24% of basic pay
- Y City: 16% of basic pay
- Z City: 8% of basic pay
Actual HRA amounts are based on the basic salary applicable at the time of posting.
Dearness Allowance (DA)
- Dearness Allowance is a cost-of-living adjustment paid to government employees as a percentage of their basic pay. Under the 7th Pay Commission, the DA for central government personnel has been revised to 60% of basic pay from January 2026, reflecting the latest official bi-annual adjustment based on CPI-IW data.
Travelling Allowance (TA)
Travelling Allowance is provided to cover official travel and daily commuting expenses. Under the 7th Pay Commission, TA is not a single fixed amount for all posts. It is generally linked to pay level and city category (X, Y, Z), and is paid along with DA on TA.
For example, for mid-level posts like Sub-Inspector (Level-6), commonly cited TA rates are around:
- ₹3,600 + DA (for higher category cities)
- ₹1,800 + DA (for other cities)
Uniform / Dress Allowance
Uniform Allowance is provided annually to employees required to wear uniforms. Under the 7th Pay Commission, this allowance is granted once a year, usually with the July salary.
- A commonly accepted figure for uniformed personnel (including police forces) is around ₹10,000 per year, although the exact amount depends on department-specific orders.

- List 1: Female candidates qualified for PET/PST (4,320 candidates).
- List 2: Male candidates qualified for PET/PST (44,067 candidates).
- List 3: Male Departmental candidates of Delhi Police (228 candidates).
If your roll number and name appear in these documents, you have successfully cleared the first hurdle of the selection process.
Next Steps: PET and PST
Qualifying in Paper 1 is only the beginning. Shortlisted candidates must now prepare for the Physical Endurance Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST).
Important Note: The PET/PST is qualifying in nature but mandatory. Candidates must meet specific physical standards (height, chest measurements) and pass endurance activities (race, long jump, high jump) to be eligible for Paper 2 (English Language & Comprehension).
Detailed schedules for the physical tests will be updated on the SSC websites shortly.
