SSC MTS Notification 2025

The SSC MTS 2025 notification has been officially released by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) on 26th June 2025. The commission has announced a total of 5464 vacancies for SSC MTS Havaldar posts. The online registration process begins on 26th June and will remain open until 24th July 2025.

Eligible candidates who have passed Class 10 (Matriculation) can apply online through the official SSC website at ssc.gov.in.

The SSC MTS 2025 online application process is open from June 26 to July 24, 2025 on the official SSC website ssc.gov.in. Eligible 10th pass candidates can apply online by registering, filling the form, uploading documents and paying the application fee.

SSC MTS Selection Process

The SSC MTS exam is conducted every year by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) to recruit candidates for Multi-Tasking Staff (Non-Technical) and Havaldar posts. The SSC MTS selection process consists of the following stages:

  1. Computer-Based Test (CBT) – It is also known as Paper 1 and is compulsory for all candidates.

SSC MTS Paper-1

The SSC MTS 2025 exam consists of a Computer Based Test divided into two sessions:

Session-I:

  • Numerical and Mathematical Ability: 20 questions, 60 marks
  • Reasoning Ability and Problem-Solving: 20 questions, 60 marks
  • Duration: 45 minutes
  • Negative Marking: No negative marking in this session

Session-II:

  • General Awareness: 25 questions, 75 marks

SSC MTS Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

The Physical Efficiency Test (PET) is conducted only for candidates applying for the post of Havildar (CBIC and CBN) under SSC MTS Recruitment. Candidates who qualify the Computer Based Test (CBT) will be called for Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST).

1. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) Criteria
Candidates must complete the following physical tasks:

Male Candidates:

  • Walk 1600 meters in 15 minutes

Female Candidates:

  • Walk 1 km in 20 minutes

2. Physical Standard Test (PST) Criteria
Candidates must meet the following physical measurement standards:

SSC MTS Eligibility Criteria 2025

To apply for the SSC MTS 2025 Exam, candidates must fulfill certain basic eligibility Criteria, which are clearly outlined by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC). Candidates applying for SSC MTS 2025 must be aged 18 to 25 years as on 01‑08‑2025 for Multi‑Tasking Staff posts, and 18 to 27 years for Havaldar positions. Age relaxations are applicable for reserved and special category candidates per government rules.

SSC MTS Age Relaxation

The SSC MTS 2025 exam offers age relaxation to candidates belonging to reserved and special categories. SC/ST candidates get age relaxation of 5 years, OBC candidates 3 years and Persons with Disabilities (PWD/Divyang) 10 to 15 years depending on their category. Ex-servicemen, central government employees and widows/divorced women are also eligible for additional age relaxation. The detailed category-wise age relaxation is given in the table below.

SSC MTS Nationality

 Pregnant female candidates (12+ weeks) may be temporarily exempted and retested after six weeks post-delivery with a medical certificate.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

If you are applying for the post of Havildar (CBIC & CBN) under SSC MTS Recruitment, you will have to clear the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST) after qualifying for the Computer-Based Test (CBT). These tests assess a candidate’s physical fitness and endurance.

Physical Standard Test (PST)

Candidates who qualify for the Computer-Based Test (CBT) will have to satisfy the height, chest and weight criteria to qualify for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET).

SSC MTS Exam Pattern – FAQs

Q1. What is the exam pattern of SSC MTS?
The exam is conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode, divided into two sessions.

A total of 90 questions are asked — 40 in Session I and 50 in Session II.

The SSC MTS (Multi-Tasking Staff) Salary is structured as per the 7th Pay Commission, offering a competitive in-hand salary along with various allowances and benefits. Candidates selected through the SSC MTS Exam receive a monthly in-hand salary ranging from ₹21,000 to ₹25,000, depending on their job location and applicable allowances.

Through SSC MTS Exam, the board offers Group C non-gazetted posts under Central Government service. All these posts of Group C are non-ministerial with a pay band of 5,200 to 20,200 including Grade Pay of Rs 1,800. The SSC MTS Salary 2025 basically depends on the cities where employees are employed. The three categories for SSC Multitasking posts are.

SSC MTS In-Hand Salary (After Deductions)

After the implementation of the 7th pay commission, the salaries offered to SSC Multitasking posts have increased by around 20 percent. As mentioned earlier, the SSC MTS in-hand salary is in the range of Rs 21,557 to 25,704 depending upon the city where the candidate is posted. In addition to the SSC MTS Basic Pay there are various other allowances offered to the candidate namely House Rent Allowance (HRA), Dearness Allowance (DA), Travelling Allowance (TA). The SSC MTS salary which is offered to selected candidates is listed in the table below.

SSC MTS Job Profile

Following responsibilities & duties come under the SSC MTS:

  • Physical maintenance of records of a section.
  • General cleanliness & upkeep of the Section/Unit.
  • Carrying of files & other papers within the building.
  • Photocopying, sending of FAX, etc.
  • Other non-clerical work in the Sections/Unit.
  • Assisting in routine office work as a diary, dispatch, etc. including on computer.
  • Delivering of Dak (inside & outside the building)
  • Watch & ward duties.
  • Opening & closing of rooms.
  • Cleaning of rooms.
  • The dusting of furniture etc.
  • Cleaning of building, fixture, etc.
  • Work-related to his ITI qualification, if it exists
  • Driving of vehicles, if in possession of a valid driving license
  • Upkeep of parks, lawns, potted plants, etc.
  • Any other work assigned by the superior authority.

SSC MTS Career Growth & Promotion

There are two types of increments provided under the Pay Band-1 scheme of SSC MTS salary, i.e.

  • Annual increments and Promotional increments.

1. Annual Increments

  • Annual increments are to be paid at the rate of 3% of the total pay in the SSC MTS Pay Band and the corresponding Grade Pay.

2. Promotional Increments

  • The SSC MTS promotion structure provides opportunities for career growth and salary increments based on experience, departmental exam and seniority. Employees can expect periodic promotions as per government norms, usually after 3, 5 or 10 years of service.

According to Rule, 5(2) of Central Civil Accounts Service (Lower Division Clerk, Group 'C' post) Recruitment Rules 2010, 5 % of the vacancies in the grade of LDC are to be filled by promotion on seniority basis through common "Range of Seniority" from amongst Group 'C' staff (Multi-Tasking Staff) who have three years regular service in the post with the Grade Pay of RS 1800.

SSC MTS Grade Pay increases with every promotion

  • First Promotion: RS 1900/- after 3 years of service.
  • Second Promotion: RS 2000/- after 3 years of service.
  • Third Promotion: RS 2400/- after 5 years of service.
  • And so on up to RS 5400/-

SSC MTS Result

The SSC MTS Result 2025 will be declared on the official website ssc.gov.in after the completion of the examination process. Candidates who appeared for the SSC MTS (Multi-Tasking Staff) Paper-1 exam will be able to check their result in PDF format.

The result will contain the roll numbers and names of candidates who have qualified for the next stage—either Document Verification (for MTS posts) or PET/PST (for Havaldar posts). The result is usually released region-wise.
