SSC CGL Syllabus & Exam Pattern 2024: SSC CGL Syllabus is released by the SSC in its official notification. SSC has already released the SSC CGL tier I exam date 2024 that is to be conducted from 9th to 26th September, 2024 candidates appearing for the exam must have a good knowledge of the SSC CGL Syllabus as per the latest notification for preparing in a systematic manner. SSC CGL  is one of the prestigious exams that cover all the topics of daily lives. Thus, the basic syllabus for SSC CGL Tier I comprises of the following sections:

SSC CGL Tier 1 Total Marks

SSC CGL Tier I is mandatory for all the posts and its marks are added for further process as well. If you do not clear the cut-off of the Tier I Exam then you will not be eligible for Tier II.

• Total number of questions in Tier 1: 100
• Total number of Marks in Tier 1: 200
• SSC CGL tier I will have only multiple-choice questions.
• Each correct answer fetches you 1 mark while an incorrect answer will lead to a penalty of 0.25 mark.
• The duration of the SSC CGL Tier I exam is 1 hour for a 200 mark paper.

SSC CGL Tier 2 Total Marks

• Tier 2 Paper-1 consists of 150 questions.
• Tier 2 Paper-I is worth 450 marks.
• There are 100 questions in Tier 2 Paper II.
• The total number of marks in Tier-II Paper 2 is 200. (It is also same in Paper 3.)
• In Paper-I, there is a penalty of 1 mark for each incorrect answer, while Papers II and III have a deduction of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer.

SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria 2024: Highlights

Here are some important points regarding SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria 2024 which are listed below:

• There is no minimum percentage requirement in SSC CGL Exam, candidates with simple graduation passing certificate are eligible to apply
• Candidates who are in their final year of graduation are also eligible to apply provided they must produce the passing certificate and mark sheet within the specified date mentioned by the SSC board
• Candidates living outside India are also eligible to apply provided they have Indian citizenship
• The minimum and maximum age limit for General category candidates are 18 years and 32 years, respectively. Reserved category candidates also get an age relaxation, the details of which are mentioned in the article below

Candidates must also note that a degree obtained through open university or distance education must be recognized by a Distance Education Bureau (DEB). Factors Affecting Eligibility Criteria for SSC CGL Exam 2024

SSC CGL Nationality

Candidates applying for SSC CGL must be a resident of Indian territory with a valid ID proof to substantiate it. However, following candidates are also eligible to apply:

• Tibetan refugee who moved to India before 1962, to settle down permanently in India
• A person of India origin who has moved from Pakistan, Burma, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Zambia, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with intention of settling down permanently in India
• The subject of Nepal or Bhutan

SSC CGL Age limit ( 01-08-2024 ):

SSC CGL Tier 1 Pattern

The table below will give an overview of the SSC CGL Exam. Applicants should be thoroughly aware of the SSC CGL exam pattern, mode of exam, how many tiers are involved, the number of questions in each tier, marks and language of the paper.

• The SSC CGL Tier I Examination has 4 sections - Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude & English Language
• Each section consists of 25 questions and each question carries 2 marks which makes it a total of 50 marks per section
• The total time duration is 60 minutes and there is a negative marking of 0.50 marks per question
• The Total marks can hence be calculated as -

SSC CGL Tier 2 Pattern

Tier-II will include conducting of Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III in separate shift(s)/ day(s).

• Paper I  is Compulsory for all posts.
• Paper II will be only for those candidates who apply for the posts of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) in the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.
• Paper III will be only for those candidates who apply for the posts of Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer.

SSC CGL Tier 2 Pattern- Detail View

Incorrect  Answer: There is a negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer in Paper-I, (Section-I,II and Module-I of Section-III ) and 0.50 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-II and Paper-III.

Candidates who qualify Paper I in Tier 2 SSC CGL exam will be eligible to appear for Paper II and Paper III depending on the post they have applied for.
